Skin Care Starts in Your Gut

The skin is a huge organ, and many times we think only about skincare or sun protection as the only way to care for it, but the truth is that skin health comes from something much deeper - it begins in the gut and the microbiota.

As I've mentioned before, it's key to take care of the gut-skin axis. This is achieved by balancing our microbiota, this world of bacteria necessary to preserve the barrier, assimilate nutrients, and control inflammation levels.

Since many skin problems - and I dare say all of them - are related to the gut, such as dermatitis, eczema, acne, rosacea, etc.

This is achieved mainly by caring for your diet and some habits I've mentioned. The foundation of a balanced diet includes eating fiber, probiotics, fatty acids, antioxidants, and having good stomach acid.

In addition to this, it's key to maintain low stress levels, include daily movement, rest for at least 7 hours, and minimize ultra-processed foods as much as possible.
